DIY Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

I found this recipe for homemade dishwasher detergent at Domestic Cents.

I used 1/2 of the recipe because I only had two Kool Aid packets.  They cost 13 cents each at Walmart.  I already had the Borax, the A&H super washing soda, and kosher salt.  I went ahead and used vinegar for a rinse agent. Here is the recipe from Domestic Cents:

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

1/2 C Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda

1/2 C Mule Team Borax

4 packets of unsweetened, lemon KoolAid (or generic equivalent)

1/4 C kosher salt

Mix together in container.  Use 1 T per load.  Use white vinegar in rinse aid department.

How did the dishes come out?

Sparkling!  The telling result was the shiny pot that we use to pop popcorn.  It looked great- not a hint of the oil left anywhere.

I will continue to use this dishwasher detergent.  It is another simple homemade recipe that is very inexpensive.
